How to keep roaches out of my house?

We recently moved into a co-op with an attic space and I need a way to keep roaches out without constantly spraying raid. A couple of weeks ago I found a HUGE dead roach on the ceiling fan in the kitchen. It was the length of my pinky and the width of my thumb. I assumed it came from the attic and had an exterminator come to spray the place, but I continue to spray raid. The smell is beginning to make me sick. If I had a problem, I would see them. Plus I have 3 cats; I think one of them would have found one to torture.

Tonight one of my cats was banging the window blinds trying to get onto the sill to look out. When I opened the blinds there was a huge roach on the sill outside. I freaked out and shot it with raid only to watch it run up the brick outside. My husband says we do not have a problem, and that the roaches are probably coming from this farm we have nearby. I just want them away from my house. Any roach repellant suggestions to keep them away and from getting in?

I think that is almost like trying to keep any other kind of bug in your home!!! The farm has a lot to do with it too. But those big kind of roaches are like water roaches they come up through your drains. CALL THE EXTERMINATOR

Try Combat Roach Gel….You squeeze it out along baseboards, window sills, etc. Give it a few days. You will start seeing either sick or dead roaches then none at all.

I live in the country and we get big wood roaches and Combat Gel is great! I only apply once every 3-4 months and there is no smell from harsh sprays.

You can buy this at Wal-Mart and it’s a little on the expensive side for a tube but it’s very much worth it in the end, I promise. You might want to get a few tubes if your house is large. Since you have an attic, I would definately apply some up there.

    Good luck!

You may try Ortho Ant and Termite killer on the (OUTSIDE) ONLY!!!. I sprayed the entire (outside) base (bottom) of structure of the house with this ortho Ant and termite killer and it has stopped the roaches from entering the house. This should be sprayed on the Outside Only next to the ground!!! (ONLY) I repeat (DO NOT USE THIS INSIDE THE HOUSE.) It could be dangerous . When spraying- cover your nose and mouth and wear long sleeve clothing. Wash off any that might be on your skin and clothes immediately after spraying. In other words –Take a shower and wash your hair to make sure none of this stays on you or your clothing. I haven’t seen a roach or spider since I sprayed this Ant and termite killer–It is supposed to be for ants and termites –but worked to keep the roaches and spiders out of the house as well. You can buy this at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Good luck to you –I don’t like spiders or roaches either!

Spray the perimeter of your house. The large roaches, (palmettos), most likely come from the outside.

    Guarantee solution.
Get couple cans of the Gold (not the regular). It does not have that bug spray odor either. This ELIMINATES them.

I wasted LOTS of money on foggers, bug sprays and even an exterminator. This spray did it. (I was beginning to think I had some ‘armor coated’ mutant roaches.)
